Trace elements are basic metal and mineral substances, which are essential to the biochemical processes of metabolism (Krebs cycle and respiratory chain). Without them a harmonious interaction between enzymes and vitamins in the body would not be possible. An excess of free radical activities, due to toxins in food and environmental pollutants, can cause disorders and malfunctions in the metabolism of humans and animals. Enzymes are the basic structure of the free radical scavenger system and enzymes need ionized trace elements for their chemical structure. What is the difference between colloidal and ionized trace elements? For example colloidal silver: The element silver is coupled to a protein molecule. This compound needs to undergo two steps in the body before it can become biochemically active.
1. HCL has to precipitate the protein so that the enzyme protease can split the protein from the silver.
2. The separated silver must then be ionized in the GI tract and then it can be absorbed.
Ionized Trace Elements - SOMAPLEX® are available immediately for metabolic processes in the body no matter how weak the organism and digestive tract may be. Simply a few drops on the tongue and the body interacts without any additional intermediate steps. How can these minute concentrations in Somaplex® be effective? Some of the metal and mineral elements occur in concentrations of 104 or less in the human body. For example, in nature the mold aspergillus niger cannot grow in the absence of magnesium. A minimum concentration of 104 is efficient for the formation of the reproductive black conidia. The efficiency of these extremely low concentration levels were the scientific basis to formulate the "Somaplex®" series at levels as low 10-12 to 10-3.
An excessively high concentration of metals would result in the inhibition of the enzyme activity in the body, while an excessively low concentration would result in disturbances of the vitamin synthesis, reducing metabolism. Ionized Trace Elements have been used in Europe for over 30 years, Marco Pharma introduced, for the first time in the United States, the Somaplex® line produced by the Nestmann Company of Germany.
How can the extremely low concentrations of Somaplex®
ionized trace elements still be effective?
A catalizer is a substance that is effective in the smallest amount.
One-millionth gram of zinc has 2.5 trillion atoms. It takes only 1 to 10 atoms to reactivate an enzyme molecule; during this process they do not lose their electrical charge and are able to react multiple times.
Another example: The concentration of only one particle of ionized copper in a solution of one million particles of water (1:1,000,000 ppm) has such tremendous power that it will dissolve an old-fashioned hot water bottle.
It is very hard for the human mind to visualize the effectiveness of these minute concentrations. An analogy may help: In the old days, when most homes were heated using coal or wood stoves, mother placed a piece of coal wrapped in a wet newspaper on the dying fire bed before bedtime. The next morning some embers of the coal still remained. She then would place some paper, etc., on top, she gently fanned the embers; this ignited instantly and saved time rebuilding a new fire. Had she taken a whole bucket of explosive fuel and poured it onto the embers, there would have been no explosion, but rather it would have suffocated the remaining sparks. The conclusion is: a minute stimulant can create a major reaction, this we already know from homeopathy.
The extremely low concentrations of the SOMAPLEX® line were calculated on an average body weight of 165 pounds. For example, Somaplex® Zinc No. 14 has the concentration of 23µg (microgram) zinc as zinc sulfate.
The body needs around 200 to 300 micrograms of Selenium daily. This amount is generally provided in our everyday food intake. If the liver and/or intestines are compromised, the absorption of Selenium can be diminished. In situations like this, it would be appropriate for short-term supplementation. However, for some practitioners it became routine to recommend life-long daily supplement support. A goal of biological medicine is to restore bodily functions. In regards to the above, the holistic approach is to treat the liver and the intestinal tract in order to normalize metabolic functions. The approach of daily supplementation stems from linear thinking, which is common in traditional medicine, like diarrhea = anti-diarrhea medicines. This thinking is also found in integrated medicine, like low stomach acid = life-long HCL supplements, etc. The healing of the problem is rarely in the foreground.
The Somaplex® line was developed for durations of two to three months, with future intermittent use. Based upon 40 years of experience, the low concentrations are efficient and also guarantee no harmful side effects.
